Disneyland 2014

Disneyland 2014

Welcome!

We are Bryan, Lindsay and Parker. We love playing, laughing and spending time together. Our wish is to grow our family through adoption. We have an open adoption with Parker's birth parents and enjoy our relationship with them. We have a special place in our hearts for all birth parents. We believe you should be honored and admire your strength and courage. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us!

Bryan Describes Lindsay

Lindsay is a joy to be married to. She is funny, sensitive and caring. I’ve loved watching her grow as a mom. She is always thinking of new things to do with Parker to help him grow and learn. I’m not one to look forward to getting out the finger-paints and dealing with a mess, but Lindsay loves to let Parker do his “art”. Lindsay has a genuine interest in others. She stays close to her family, regardless of the distance that may separate them. Lindsay loves to create. She is an avid scrapbooker and is always looking to create decorations for our home. Lindsay loves to watch and interact with children. She’s always ready to help a mother who might have her hands full. She is dependable (she ALWAYS follows through on whatever obligation she accepts); she tries to do the right things and is patient with me. I’ll end with this: several years ago my grandfather took me aside and told me he loves me, but I definitely married above my station. I know the rest of my family feels the same way.

Lindsay Describes Bryan

Bryan loves golf
Bryan is a wonderful husband and father. I love his sense of humor, he is always making me laugh! He is very goal oriented and a very hard worker. His job isn’t the easiest, but he does his very best to provide for us and makes it possible for me to stay home. He has earned several trips from his company. Some of the places we've been include San Diego, Orlando, Australia and Bermuda! I love watching him play with Parker. He loves going on bike rides with him, playing the xbox, playing board games and playing catch with him. I love spending time with him. Some of the things we enjoy together are watching movies, going out to dinner, throwing a football or frisbee around, playing basketball, and talking late into the night. We also enjoy reading books together. Some of our favorites are Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Great Brain series.

Parker

Parker at Lego Land Christmas 2015

This is Parker and he is 10 years old. He is a typical boy in that he loves cars, nerf guns, super heroes and sports. He loves being outside digging in the dirt, making forts, swimming, playing with friends, creating art projects and his 'inventions' and riding his bike. One of his favorite things to do is play XBox with daddy, especially Minecraft! He doesn't love school, but he is an excellent student! Math is his best subject. He can be the sweetest thing, telling us we are the best and that he loves us and giving spontaneous hugs and kisses. He always wants us to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star three times every night when we tuck him in. He is excited to have a younger sibling to play with and teach them everything he knows!

Lindsay Describes Herself

Halloween 2014

I love being a wife and mom! I enjoy watching Parker grow and learn. We love going places like the zoo, aquarium, Wheeler Farm, Museum of Natural History and Red Butte Gardens just to name a few. I love children’s books and had quite a collection long before Parker arrived. We love cuddling in his bean bag reading books. In my spare time I love to scrapbook, make cards and other crafty projects. I also enjoy sewing a little and have made several baby quilts for family and friends. I LOVE chocolate! My favorite is Reese’s peanut butter cups. I am also addicted to Diet Coke with lime. I can often be found at Sonic during happy hour, getting a Route 44 diet coke with lime. Especially on a hot summer day!

Bryan Describes Himself

I love being a husband and a dad. When I’m at work, I’ll call home several times a day to see what’s going on and to say hi. I’m self-employed as an insurance agent, which means I can be flexible with my schedule and can go to the zoo or other activities fairly regularly. I take my role as a provider seriously. While my job has its own rewards, my purpose is to work hard to provide for my family and allow Lindsay to be a full time mom. When I have time to myself, I enjoy reading, working out, playing golf, or watching sports. I also love doing active things with our extended family: Jet Skiing and water skiing, playing basketball and going shooting.

How We Began

Lindsay and Bryan bowling on Thanksgiving with Lindsay's family
We met our Jr. year of high school and were friends for many years before we started dating. We did attend one fireside together in High School, which apparently wasn’t very memorable because Bryan has only a dim recollection of it. After Bryan left on his church mission, Lindsay got his address from his dad and we built on our friendship via letters. A few months after Bryan returned, we had our official first date. We lived in different states at the time, but eventually Lindsay made her way back to Utah. Four months after she returned to Utah we were engaged. Bryan, being the gentleman that he is, wanted to ask Lindsay’s dad’s permission to marry her. To improve his odds, he waited until her dad was distracted by watching his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos. He also made sure that the Broncos were winning when he asked for Lindsay’s hand. Her dad said yes, and then came the really hard part, asking Lindsay. It was New Year’s Eve. We went out to dinner and then went to a single adult dance. Bryan took Lindsay out in the foyer, got down on one knee and read her a poem he had written asking her to marry him. We then went to Bryan’s sister’s house and shared the news with his family. We also called Lindsay’s family to let them know we were starting the New Year as an engaged couple. We have shared many wonderful years together and look forward to sharing many more.

Parker's Adoption Story

First Family Photo
After struggling with infertility for several years, we came to the decision that adoption was the right path for us to start our family. We applied through LDS Family Services and received our approval letter on Christmas Eve! We were so excited and after two years of searching for our baby, a family friend told Bryan’s parents of her nephew and girlfriend looking for a family to adopt their baby boy. We gave them our online profile information and a few days later we were told that they had chosen us! The same day they chose us, Parker’s birthmom went into the hospital with some complications. That is where we first met his birthparents. It was exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. He was born a week and a half later (eight weeks early) and spent the next 40 days in the NICU. Though this presented some challenges, we knew that all would turn out well and we were able to bring him home as soon as he was ready. We have always enjoyed an open relationship with both of Parker’s birthparents and have kept in regular contact via e-mail, pictures, and visits. He knows who they are and knows that they love him, which we feel is important for him.

What We Like to Do

  Riding on a Ferris Wheel
We love spending time together as a family. We play games together, go for walks, swing on our swing set, or just play in the backyard, and take trips to the zoo and aquarium. We also enjoy watching movies, reading together, and traveling. Some other activities we enjoy are bowling, miniature golf, watching America's Funniest Videos and Mythbusters, hanging out with our extended family, and camping/playing at Bear Lake. Lindsay recently took up golf and we enjoy spending time at the driving range and putting green as a family.

Our Home

We live right across the street from Bryan’s parents and most of his siblings live within 10 minutes. It is so great to have family close! We have a good sized, fenced in back yard where we love to play. In the summer we can often be found sitting on the patio with Parker looking at the stars and watching airplanes fly overhead. We purchased our home right before Parker was born. We updated the paint and carpet and have enjoyed decorating and making it our own.

Lindsay's Family

Family Pic Dec 2011
Lindsay is the oldest of four children. She has two brothers and one sister. Most of her family lives in Idaho. We try to visit them about once a month and they come down here to visit often as well. She has five nephews and three nieces. Lindsay’s dad passed away several years ago. We make sure to tell all the kids stories about Grandpa Bruce and Lindsay is working on a scrapbook of his life so they can learn more about him. Her mom is a fun grammie and does a great job spoiling her grandkids. They have sleepovers, movie nights and she even sends them letters in the mail, just to let them know she is thinking of them! We go camping at Bear Lake as a family and have a blast hanging out at the beach during the day and talking and laughing around the camp fire at night. Lindsay shares a love of scrapbooking with her mom and sisters-in-law. They’ve been to retreats and late night crops and have so much fun spending time together.

Bryan's Family

Dec 2013
Bryan is the second of four children. He has two sisters, one brother, seven nephews and four nieces. He enjoys spending time with his family. We’ve been to Orlando with his parents and had so much fun going to Disney World and Sea World. We try to get together at least once a month for dinner. We call it ‘Family Sunday.’ He calls his grandma at least once a week just to chat and see how she and his grandpa are doing. His mom’s side of the family gets together every year for a family camp. They’ve been going to the same area for over 40 years! We enjoy spending time with his cousins, aunts and uncles. We go horseback riding, four wheeling, shooting, fishing and enjoy playing with all the kids. Bryan and his dad share a love of golf. Grandpa is always so excited when Parker wants to hit a ball around with him. Bryan has taken Parker to the driving range and practice green the past several summers while Lindsay was away at girls camp.

Our Thoughts on Parenting

We are very grateful for the blessing of being parents. We feel not only that Heavenly Father, but also Parker’s birthparents have entrusted us with the responsibility of raising Parker. We frequently discuss plans for our children's growth and future. We believe most important that our children know that they are loved and respected. We also want our children to understand that the choices they make have consequences.

Openness in Adoption

We are so blessed to have an open relationship with Parker’s birth family. We feel it is beneficial to all of those involved. His birth family loves seeing him grow and hearing about what he is up to. We realize every adoption is different and ultimately the degree of openness will be up to the birthparents and what they are comfortable with.

Please remember that we are praying for you and admire your courage at this time! If you have questions that weren’t answered here, don’t hesitate to email us!
With Love,
Bryan, Lindsay and Parker
